The BTI 701 provides Ethernet service demarcation for Layer 1 and Layer 2 Ethernet service delivery networks and a customer’s network infrastructure. Supporting an array of service and link Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) features to provide performance monitoring, fault detection, and service enforcement and compliance for Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service delivery.

The BTI 701 offers 1 combo port service interface which supports 10/100/1000BaseT clients leveraging the RJ-45 port; 1000BaseX clients are alternately supported when the SFP port is provisioned. The BTI 701 provides one SFP-based network interface port for 1000BaseX service interconnect leveraging  850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM, and DWDM optics for direct on fiber or WDM-based networking.

AC and DC power options are available to address facility input power at deployed locations.

Key Features

Network Scalability & Resiliency

The BTI 701 offers both IEEE802.1Q (VLAN tagging) and IEEE802.1ad (VLAN Stacking/Provider Bridging) to scale the network and provide effective traffic segregation and security. IEEE802.1ad (Link Aggregation) provides high capacity linking and soft redundancy for high availability while IEEE802.1D Rapid Spanning Tree support provides rapid detection of failures and network convergence to address topology changes.

Service Bandwidth Management

Measuring and control of network communications (traffic, packets) on BTI 701 network links leverages IEEE802.1p to provide Quality of Service (QoS) enablement, traffic class expediting and dynamic multicast filtering. Four priority queues are available and controlled using ingress policing and egress shaping.

Ethernet OAM

IEEE802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile provides standardized approaches to access network topologies and physical layer specifications as part of service delivery networks; OAM features include remote failure indication, remote loopback, and link monitoring functionality. IEEE802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management, operating on a per-service VLAN basis provides end-to-end service management with continuity check “heartbeats”, service link tracing, and loopback verification capabilities.

Access Control List Security

Ingress traffic is filtered based on Internet protocol (IP), transmission control protocol (TCP), user datagram protocol (UDP) and virtual LAN (VLAN).

MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Platform

The BTI 701 has Ethernet Private Line (EPL) certified compliance based on MEF 9 (Ethernet Services at the UNI) and MEF 14 (Traffic Management Phase 1) technical specifications.
