The BTI 704 provides intelligent demarcation, extension, and aggregation functionality for Carrier Ethernet services in a compact, 2 rack unit (2RU) network device. Twelve combo port service interfaces support 10/100/1000BaseT clients leveraging the RJ-45 port; 1000BaseX clients are alternately supported when SFP ports are provisioned. The BTI 704 provides aggregation of Ethernet client service packets onto high capacity Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) links using up to four SFP-based network interface ports for 1000BaseX service interconnect leveraging 850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM, and DWDM optics for direct-on-fiber or WDM-based networking.
BTI 712

The BTI 712 provides intelligent demarcation, extension, and aggregation functionality for Carrier Ethernet services in a compact, 2 rack unit (2RU) network device with 10GbE network interconnect capabilities. Twelve combo port service interfaces support 10/100/1000BaseT clients leveraging the RJ-45 port; 1000BaseX clients are alternately supported when SFP ports are provisioned. The BTI 712 provides aggregation of Ethernet client service packets onto high capacity 10 GbE links using two XFP-based network interface ports for service interconnect leveraging 850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM, and DWDM optics for direct-on-fiber or WDM-based networking.
Ethernet Access Device Features
Network Scalability & Resiliency
BTI’s EADs offer both IEEE802.1Q (VLAN tagging) and IEEE802.1ad (VLAN Stacking/Provider Bridging) to scale networks and provide effective traffic segregation and security. IEEE802.1ad (Link Aggregation) provides high capacity linking and soft redundancy for high availability while IEEE802.1D Rapid Spanning Tree support provides rapid detection of failures and network convergence to address topology changes.
Service Bandwidth Management
Measuring and control of network communications (traffic, packets) on BTI 700 network links is achieved by leveraging IEEE802.1p to provide Quality of Service enablement, traffic class expediting and dynamic multicast filtering. Up to eight priority queues are available and are controlled using ingress policing and egress shaping.
Ethernet OAM
IEEE802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile provides standardized approaches for access network topologies and physical layer specifications as part of service delivery networks; Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) features include remote failure indication, remote loopback, and link monitoring functionality. IEEE802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management, operating on a per-service VLAN basis provides end-to-end service management with continuity check “heartbeats”, service link tracing, and loopback verification capabilities. ITU-T Y.1731 provides extensive performance monitoring with frame loss, delay, and delay variation features.
Comprehensive Network Security
BTI EADs have RADIUS centralized authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) management; Ingress traffic is filtered based on Internet protocol (IP), transmission control protocol (TCP), user datagram protocol (UDP) and virtual LAN (VLAN). In addition, IEEE802.1x Network Access Control and storm control/broadcast suppression are offered. IP Source Guard, DHCP Snooping, and Dynamic ARP Inspection are incremental features on the BTI 704 and 712.
MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Platforms
BTI EADs have Ethernet service architecture certified compliance based on MEF 9 (Ethernet Services at the UNI) and MEF 14 (Traffic Management Phase 1) technical specifications.
Modular Power Options
Modular power options enable BTI EADs to be configured with AC, DC, dual AC, dual DC, or hybrid power configurations to address facility input power at deployed locations.
