BTI Systems Appoints Peter Allen to CFO Post

Company Establishes CFO Function to Support Global Market Expansion

Ottawa — Wednesday, January 20, 2010 // BTI Systems today announced the appointment of Peter Allen to the post of Chief Financial Officer based at the company’s Ottawa, Canada Headquarters. With Peter’s selection, BTI Systems strengthens its corporate stewardship as the market for its packet-optical networking platform grows among service providers and enterprises throughout North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. BTI Systems currently has more than 200 customers worldwide and nearly 180 employees in its Ottawa headquarters and throughout its regional offices in Boston, Belfast and China.

Peter has twice been nominated as Canada's CFO of the Year and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Peter brings more than 25 years experience as a financial executive, including 18 years as CFO, in a broad range of Canadian private and public corporations to his position. Most recently, Peter was CFO at the Allen Vanguard Corporation in Ottawa where he successfully led the effort to restructure and recapitalize during the global financial crisis. Peter has a unique background in the defence, aerospace and technology sectors through prior executive posts at Export Development Canada, Nav Canada and Merisel.”

Outside of the office, Peter serves on the board of Orbis Canada, a charity that operates a DC-10 airliner converted into the world’s only flying eye surgery teaching hospital, in support of its mission to eliminate preventable blindness. In 2001, Peter was conferred a Fellowship by the Royal Aeronautical Society of London, England in recognition of his outstanding lifelong contributions to the field of aerospace. An avid aviator, Peter is a licensed commercial pilot and serves on the Board of the National Air Museum Society.
