New Invest NI Chief Executive Officially Opens £6.7m BTI Systems Offices

Invest Northern Ireland’s new Chief Executive says the agency remains more focused than ever before on winning high quality inward investment projects.

Belfast, UK — Thursday, April 2, 2009 // Mr Hamilton was speaking as he officially opened the BTI Systems European Headquarters and Software Centre of Excellence in Belfast today.

BTI Systems is a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions which includes the development of state of the art systems for the delivery of high bandwidth voice, video and data communications.

Plans by the North American telecommunications company to establish a £6.7million base in Belfast were announced in October 2008. Invest NI offered £660,000 towards the total project costs.

Opening the headquarters at Montgomery Street in Belfast City Centre, his first official role as Invest NI Chief Executive, Mr Hamilton said: “Only 5 months after announcing the integral role that Northern Ireland would play in its future global expansion, BTI Systems’ new European headquarters and software centre of excellence is already in operation.

“By 2011, sixty people will be based here, engaged in software development and the delivery of advanced technical solutions for a prestigious international client base. I am delighted that BTI Systems has chosen Northern Ireland and I am confident that this new base will make a significant contribution to BTI’s growth plans whilst showcasing local expertise and talent.

“The very presence of BTI Systems in Northern Ireland is a resounding endorsement of our talented people, cost competitiveness and growing knowledge infrastructure, particularly during these difficult economic times. Combined with Invest NI support, this region remains an exceptionally attractive location for inward investment so in moving forward, we will endeavor to build on our success to date, and strengthen our focus on securing high value, mobile investment and reinvestment projects.”
