BTI Delivers Next-Generation Services for Canadian Network Operators
Hay Communications and Mornington Communications select BTI for Ethernet network builds and network consolidation
Ottawa, Canada — Monday, March 2, 2009 // BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high-bandwidth, multi-protocol services, today announced that it has been selected by two Independent Operating Companies (IOCs), Hay Communications Co-operative Ltd. and Mornington Communications Co-operative Ltd., to enhance their network capabilities and to meet increasing customer demand for advanced telephony, Internet, and data services. Operating in south-western Ontario, both IOCs are using the BTI NETSTENDER service platform to consolidate existing network traffic and to pave the way for greater network capacity.
Hay Communications is using BTI’s NETSTENDER DWDM platforms to overlay Ethernet and converge it with existing SONET connectivity. The NETSTENDER system with 2-port Gigabit Ethernet Muxponders and Dual 1G Multiprotocol Transponders enables Hay to consolidate OC-3 SONET connectivity while adding Gigabit Ethernet and Private Line traffic onto a single fibre pair.
“BTI’s solution has increased our network capacity by 650 percent with the initial deployment, says Angela Schneider, General Manager, Hay Communications. “This has enabled Hay to support our growing customer base and provide us with the ability to cost-effectively deliver advanced, dependable residential and business services.
Mornington Communications, located in Milverton, Ontario, is using the NETSTENDER systems in a 4-channel CWDM configuration for SONET network consolidation. Combining OC-48 and OC-3 connectivity between Mornington network points of presence (POPs), the solution is designed to support a growing demand for the company’s Internet, security monitoring, digital TV and mobile phone services. The network can scale to 100 Gbps on a single fibre pair enabling the BTI solution to support anticipated GbE traffic in the future.
“BTI’s solutions provide the right capacity, capabilities and price-points to help companies like Hay and Mornington address residential and business needs with next-generation network service capabilities, said JC Fahmy, Vice-President, Product Management, BTI Systems. “Their commitment to quality and delivering innovative services using best-in-class technology mirrors our own, and we’re proud to play an integral part in supporting their networks.
