Enhanced G.709 OTN Capabilities, New Modules, and an Expanded DWDM Wavelength Plan
We continue to enhance our Intelligent Services Edge solutions by introducing G.709 Optical Transport Network (OTN) capabilities for the packetVX family of integrated packet services modules. G.709 OTN is a key market differentiator providing resiliency, reach and performance for 10Gbps WDM wavelengths.
Our packetVX OTN implementation supports a General Communications Channel (GCC) for management communications, Forward Error Correction (FEC and Enhanced FEC) for improved throughput and reach, and Layer 1 performance monitoring (CV, ES, SES) for improved network and service visibility. Software enhancements include the addition of Carrier Ethernet Services (EPLINE, EPLAN, EVPLINE, EVPLAN) on the packetVX modules, and of QoS/CoS on the packetVX modules. The packetVX OTN implementation is also fully interoperable with BTI’s 10G Transponder portfolio.
New optical client service modules include the Dual 4G Multiprotocol Transponder focused on data center extension with 1/2/4G Fibre Channel and GbE support and the 8-port Multiprotocol Muxponder. The 8-port MXP provides GbE, 1/2G Fibre Channel, OC-3/12, STM-1/4, and SDI video support, aggregating onto a 2.5G wavelength with optional OTN-capabilities and single unprotected, protected (UPSR/SNCP or 1+1 OTN), or dual line options (5G aggregate capacity). The new Dual 10G Multiprotocol Transponder Lite complements our existing 10G transponder portfolio with cost-effective, transparent connectivity.
BTI’s DWDM plan has been expanded to 40 wavelengths and we now offer a 40 Channel Mux-Demux module for full network termination of all DWDM wavelengths.
Lastly, we now offer support for copper SFPs on Dual 2.5G Multiprotocol Transponders (WR) and a new 1310nm + CWDM OADM simplifies integration of legacy network connectivity onto a WDM-based optical layer.
