Neil Ferris, Chairman of the Board

Neil Ferris has over 30 years experience in working with companies in the high technology industry, leading them to achieve world-class status. Neil was a member of the founding team of Apollo Computer, and founder and CEO at Fluent, leading the company through to acquisition by Novell. In addition, Neil was CEO of Giganet, a significant storage networking company, which was acquired by Emulex Corp for an estimated $650M. Neil also serves as the Chairman of the Board for the University of Massachusetts Marlboro Hospital and is a board member of Enfora, InterSense, and New Horizons corporations. Neil is also an active consultant to a number of venture capital firms and newly formed technology-based companies.

Colin Doherty, President and Chief Executive Officer, BTI Systems

Colin Doherty brings over 25 years of global telecommunications industry experience including a comprehensive understanding of the carrier, cloud, enterprise and data center markets to his role as President and CEO of BTI Systems. Colin has an extensive background in customer-facing executive management, operations, business development, sales leadership and marketing positions in both multinational public companies and private-backed venture organizations. A veteran CEO, Colin joined BTI from Arbor Networks where, during his tenure as CEO he led the profitable sale of Arbor to Danaher Corporation in 2010.

Prior to joining Arbor Networks, Colin was President and CEO of Mangrove Systems, a venture-backed start-up in the carrier network segment. Before Mangrove, Colin spent more than 16 combined years at NMS Communications and Nortel Networks in senior sales management positions, and managing global business units in Latin America, North America and Europe for broadband and wireless technologies. Colin graduated with honors in Business Studies from Dundee, Scotland and has a postgraduate degree from the Institute of Marketing in London.

Michael Krupka, Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures

Mike Krupka is a Managing Director at Bain Capital Ventures and focuses on technology and technology-driven companies, including software, hardware, database, and telecommunication services. Previously, Mike was a Managing Director with the Private Equity Group of Bain Capital. Earlier in his career at Bain Capital, Mike was a Principal of Information Partners, a fund focused on early-stage information technology investing. He has also served in several operating roles as President of a $110M revenue software company, and CFO of a $70M revenue services company. Prior to joining Bain Capital in 1991, Mike was a consultant with Bain & Company. In addition to his firm and portfolio responsibilities, Mike has served on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston for 15 years. Mike earned a BA in Chemistry from Dartmouth College.

Deepak Sindwani, Partner, Bain Capital Ventures and Chairman of BTI Compensation Committee

Deepak Sindwani joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2009 and focuses on growth-stage investment opportunities in the media, communications and business services sectors. Previously, Deepak was a senior investment professional with Comcast Interactive Capital (CIC), the venture capital fund affiliated with Comcast Corp., where he led several early-stage and growth-stage investments in the media and communications sectors, including Broadsoft (NASDAQ: BSFT), Jingle Networks (sold to Marchex), and New Global Telecom (sold to Comcast). Prior to CIC, Deepak was a business development consultant to three media and telecom startups, and a product manager at Lucent Technologies. Earlier in his career, Deepak was co-founder of an Internet software startup and an investment banker with Credit Suisse’s Technology Group. Deepak received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Deepak is involved in several non-profits, including TiE Boston.

Nazmin Alani, Partner, Diversified Fund, Business Development Bank of Canada

Nazmin Alani has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry. Nazmin has worked with incumbent and new service providers involved in wireline, cellular, personal communications systems (PCS), and satellite communications. His work experience includes assignments in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Asia, and Australia. His professional experience includes business development, product planning, product management, strategic planning, market strategy, business modeling, and strategic sales support. He joined BDC in 2004. Prior to BDC, Nazmin spent 6 years with Gartner Consulting. Nazmin holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and an MBA from the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Nazmin also completed the Executive Telecommunications Program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

William Jin, Senior Vice-President, Covington Capital

Will Jin is Senior Vice-President of Covington Capital, a venture capital investment company, based in Toronto. Covington Capital is one of Canada's largest providers of venture capital investment funds managing approximately $500 million in assets. Will joined Covington in November 2002 and his responsibilities include the assessment, execution, management of existing investments, and management of exit investment opportunities. Will focuses on transactions in the service, distribution, manufacturing, and software sectors. He represents Covington on the board of directors of a number of investee companies. Prior to joining Covington, he was a partner with a Toronto based investment banking boutique, with over 11 years financial industry experience specializing in M&A advisory and valuations. There he was responsible for providing fairness opinions and formal OSC 9.1 valuations for public and private companies. He provided advisory services to both private and public companies. Will holds an HBA and MBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Will is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts.

William I. Campbell, Senior Advisor, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Chairman of BTI Audit Committee

Bill Campbell is a Senior Advisor for JPMorgan Chase & Co. He serves as President of Sanoch Management, a consulting and investment firm for financial companies, start-ups, and venture capital firms. Previously Bill was Chairman of Bank One Card Services. He also served as Chairman of Visa International, leading the organization to its IPO in 2008, the largest in U.S. history. Prior to this Bill was CEO of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Business. He spent 28 years at Philip Morris, including five years as CEO of Philip Morris USA. Bill holds Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Alberta and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Canadian Advisory Board to the Woodrow Wilson Institute.

Tod Nielsen, Chief Executive Officer, Heroku

Tod Nielsen is globally recognized for his combination of strategic vision and operational capabilities in software, cloud computing and big data markets. Tod currently serves as CEO of Heroku,  a cloud-based platform-as-a-service that allows developers to deploy, scale and manage applications. Prior to Heroku, Tod helped establish the Pivotal Initiative, an EMC/VMware spin-off focused on cloud computing and Big Data. Prior to that he was with VMware, where he served as co-president of applications platform group and, earlier, as chief operating officer. Tod has also served as the CEO of Borland Corporation. Earlier, he held the positions of senior vice president of marketing and global sales support for Oracle and executive vice president and chief marketing officer for BEA Systems. He is a member of the board of directors at CyrusOne Inc., MyEdu and Club Holdings LLC. Tod holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Central Washington University.
